Angie Lau

Angie Lau est la fondatrice et PDG de Forkast.News, une plateforme de médias numériques qui couvre les Technologies émergentes à l'intersection des affaires, de la politique et de l'économie, à commencer par la blockchain. Forkast.News fournit aux décideurs et aux professionnels des analyses approfondies sur l'impact de l'innovation au-delà des frontières et des secteurs d'activité.

Angie est une vétérane primée de plus de 20 ans dans le journalisme de radiodiffusion, surtout reconnue pour son rôle de présentatrice asiatique de Bloomberg Television dans « First Up with Angie Lau », où elle a recueilli plus de 10 000 interviews au cours de sa carrière, y compris certains des plus grands journalistes et chefs d'entreprise du monde.

La transition de journaliste à fondatrice a débuté avec le constat que les médias traditionnels étaient rapidement bouleversés par la demande croissante de contenu numérique. Pour conserver leur impact et leur pertinence, les médias et le journalisme devaient évoluer. Son désir de mieux comprendre la Technologies blockchain, comme un outil potentiel pour de meilleurs médias, l'a conduite à fonder Forkast.News fin 2018.

Angie est une fervente défenseure et mentore du journalisme depuis longtemps. Présidente pendant deux mandats de la section Asie de l'AAJA, elle a propulsé le nombre de ses membres, passant de quelques dizaines à plus de 300 aujourd'hui dans la région Asie-Pacifique. Sous sa direction, l'AAJA Asie a continué de développer sa conférence phare sur le journalisme destinée aux professionnels des médias : la New.Now.Next Media Conference, qui entre dans sa prochaine décennie. Ancienne codirectrice de l'autre programme national phare de l'AAJA pour les jeunes, le « J Camp » – un bootcamp de cinq jours destiné aux lycéens intéressés par le journalisme –, Angie est fière d'avoir contribué à inspirer, encadrer et guider la prochaine génération de journalistes. Elle prend toujours le temps d'encadrer et de dialoguer avec les étudiants et les jeunes professionnels de la région.

Aujourd'hui, cette mère, fondatrice, PDG, rédactrice en chef, conférencière recherchée et organisatrice de conférences sur l'innovation dans le monde entier poursuit son développement et espère non seulement apporter un éclairage de qualité, mais aussi fournir les outils Technologies nécessaires pour restaurer la confiance d'un public international. Elle a pris la parole, dirigé et animé des conférences pour IBM, EY, l'Assemblée générale des Nations Unies, Arup, Swire, l'OCDE, la Banque asiatique de développement, PwC, UBS, Blackrock, entre autres. La conférence TEDx d'Angie « Je ne suis pas censée être ici » est désormais une leçon TED Ed pour son public mondial de 6,7 millions d'abonnés.

Angie est née à Hong Kong, a grandi au Canada et est revenue à Hong Kong en 2011 comme correspondante pour Bloomberg. Fière diplômée de l'École de journalisme de l'Université Ryerson, elle est également une membre active de la communauté, ayant occupé pendant deux mandats le poste de gouverneure du conseil d'administration du Club des correspondants étrangers et siégeant aujourd'hui au comité exécutif de la Chambre de commerce canadienne de Hong Kong. Elle demeure présente dans cette région aujourd'hui, consciente que la prochaine décennie sera largement marquée par les avancées en matière d'innovation en Asie.
