Andreessen Horowitz is a venture capital firm located in Menlo Park, CA, co-founded by Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz in 2009.

It is known for backing both early stage and established technology companies in industries including bio/healthcare, crypto and fintech. Some of their most successful partnerships include AirBnb, Lyft, Slack, Pinterest and Coinbase. Andreessen Horowitz is also a founding member of the Libra Association, which will oversee Facebook-initiated Libra stablecoin.

The firm also participated in a $40 million Series B funding round with Blockchain Capital and Visa Inc. for Anchorage, a crypto custody service company, which also became a founding member of Libra.

Marc Andreessen has been a long-time crypto advocate, and in 2018, Andreessen Horowitz launched a $350 million venture fund dedicated to investing in crypto startups and protocols. Chris Dixon, a general partner of the new fund has indicated that the firm intends to focus on projects that will be used by a large amount of people, rather than those with speculative use cases. The fund portfolio includes crypto exchange Coinbase, decentralized cloud computing startup Dfinity and ‘green’ crypto startup Chia.

In 2020, Andreessen Horowitz – known for its tagline "Software Is Eating the World" – announced its fourth crypto fund, worth $515 million.
