About Altair
Altair (AIR) is a cryptocurrency that bridges real-world assets with decentralized finance, acting as a testing ground for innovative features of the Centrifuge network. It allows users to tokenize assets and access liquidity via decentralized borrowing and lending markets.
Altair (AIR) is the native token of the Altair network, a blockchain platform developed as part of the Kusama ecosystem. Altair acts as a "canary" network for Centrifuge, meaning it serves as a testbed for experimental features that may later be deployed on the main Centrifuge network. The primary focus of Altair is to bridge real-world assets (RWAs)—such as invoices, real estate, and revenue streams—with decentralized finance (DeFi), allowing these assets to be tokenized and utilised within the DeFi ecosystem.
Altair (AIR) is designed for facilitating the tokenization and financing of real-world assets on the blockchain, making it easier for users to borrow against their assets in a decentralized manner. This system enables businesses and individuals to access liquidity through collateralized loans using tokenized RWAs, which can be anything from real estate to company revenues. The Altair network supports these transactions by providing a transparent and decentralised marketplace for borrowers and lenders. Altair also integrates with Centrifuge’s Tinlake platform, which allows for structured credit products.
Additionally, Altair's experimental environment allows developers to test new blockchain features, such as asset-backed lending, in a secure yet flexible space provided by Kusama’s parachain structure.
