Rocket Pool ETH (RETH) is a liquid staking token in the Rocket Pool protocol, allowing users to collectively stake Ethereum and earn rewards. RETH represents staked ETH and can be traded on decentralized exchanges. Rocket Pool was created by David Rugendyke in 2016, with key team members Darren Langley, Kane Wallmann, Nick Doherty, and Joe Clapis.

Rocket Pool ETH (RETH) is a liquid staking token within the Rocket Pool protocol, a decentralized staking pool protocol for Ethereum. The RETH token represents an amount of ETH that is being staked and earning rewards within the Ethereum Proof-of-Stake system. As Rocket Pool node operators stake Ethereum on Proof-of-Stake, the resulting rewards increase the value of RETH relative to ETH.

The Rocket Pool platform itself is designed to allow users with less than 32 ETH to collectively fund new validators and receive rewards, simplifying the process and technical complexities of operating an Ethereum validator. The platform offers two types of tokens, RETH and RPL, with RETH being the staking token and RPL being the governance token.

The primary use of the RETH token is for staking within the Rocket Pool platform. As a Rocket Pool staker, users deposit ETH into the deposit pool, enabling a node operator to create a new Beacon Chain validator. In doing this, users are given RETH tokens that represent both the amount of ETH they deposited and when they deposited it.

Additionally, RETH can be traded on decentralized exchanges like Balancer and Uniswap, allowing users to benefit from decentralized staking without having to swap ETH for RETH directly via Rocket Pool. As rewards from staking are earned, the value of RETH grows relative to ETH, providing an incentive for holding and trading the token.
