Smooth Love Potion (SLP) is an ERC-20 token used within the Axie Infinity gaming metaverse, a blockchain-based game where players can earn tokens through skilled gameplay and contributions to the ecosystem. SLP plays a crucial role in this ecosystem, particularly in the breeding of Axies—unique digital pets represented by non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Unlike traditional in-game currencies, SLP has found its way onto cryptocurrency exchanges, thanks to its utility and demand within the game.
SLP is primarily used for breeding Axies. The tokenomics of Axie Infinity require players to spend SLP tokens each time they breed their Axies, with the cost increasing progressively with each breeding. An Axie can be bred up to seven times, with the initial breeding cost starting at 600 SLP and potentially rising to over 10,000 SLP for the seventh breeding. This use case not only creates a continual demand for SLP but also ensures a balanced and controlled growth of the Axie population within the game. SLP can be earned by players through winning battles in adventure mode or competitions in arena mode.
