Goblintown is a CC0 generative NFT city built by an anonymous collective, spawning a Solana-based token, GOB. GOB integrates NFT-linked vesting, liquidity taxes and anti-sniper mechanisms. Both art and token are extensions of the community-driven, meme-centric Goblintown universe.

Goblintown is a satirical, performance-art-driven NFT ecosystem created by Truth Labs. Originally launched as a free-mint project in May 2022, Goblintown quickly gained notoriety during the NFT boom for its anti-meta positioning: no roadmap, no Discord, no utility, just memes and art. Its deliberately chaotic aesthetic and cryptic communication style positioned it as a countercultural force in Web3. Despite the absurdity, Goblintown became one of the top meme NFT collections by all-time volume, establishing a loyal community and carving out its place in the NFT history of the early 2020s.

In 2024, Truth Labs expanded Goblintown’s ecosystem by introducing a native token, $gob, built around a new memecoin framework aiming to correct structural flaws in conventional token launches. Rather than being another short-lived meme asset, the $gob token is designed to survive and thrive in the long term through deliberate systems engineering, economic balance, and community alignment.

Goblintown continues to function as a creative, decentralised experiment that challenges norms in the NFT and crypto sectors, merging performance art, satire, and technical innovation.

$gob is a memecoin introduced to the Goblintown ecosystem as a native token designed to solve typical issues faced by meme tokens—such as rapid dumps, supply mismanagement, and misaligned incentives. It incorporates a comprehensive design intended to create long-term sustainability and fair community participation.

Core Technical Features and Design Elements

  1. NFT-Linked Token Vesting

    • Token allocations are tied to NFTs rather than wallets.
    • Vesting occurs over 30 months, with accrual every second and weekly claim windows.
    • Tokens are transferred with the NFT—if you sell a Goblin, unclaimed tokens transfer with it.
    • This mechanism is designed to incentivise long-term holding and discourage immediate liquidity dumping.
  2. Low-Cap Launch and Controlled Unlocks

    • Only ~10% of the total supply is available on day one.
    • Weekly unlocks are limited to a maximum of 1%.
    • This prevents high initial market caps that invite speculation and immediate crashes.
  3. Anti-Bot Launch Strategy

    • No pre-announcement or public pre-sale.
    • The first announcement was made in the Goblintown community Discord.
    • This staggered rollout was intended to give community members a head start and limit bot access or whale manipulation.
  4. Token Tax and Liquidity Management

    • Each transaction is subject to a 2.5% tax:
      • 1.0% goes to a liquidity management fund
      • 1.0% goes to operations and marketing
      • 0.5% is used for a buy-and-burn programme
    • Tax funds are converted to USDC/SOL and reinvested or burned to create deflationary pressure and increase token sustainability.
  5. Self-Funded Liquidity Pool

    • Goblintown funds its own liquidity rather than selling tokens to investors.
    • Liquidity strategy mirrors lessons learned from earlier meme tokens like $TRUMP and Safemoon.
  6. Community-First Approach

    • Active contributors may receive additional $gob rewards.
    • Airdrops are avoided in favour of opt-in, claimable mechanics via NFT participation.
    • Projects across the Truth Labs ecosystem (e.g., Illuminati, The 187, Grumpl, Big Inc) are included in $gob eligibility.
  7. Technical Controls

    • Minting and redemption contracts use cryptographically signed orders (EIP-712 and EIP-1271).
    • Admin-managed rate limits for mint/redeem operations per block to control supply volatility.

Goblintown and $gob were developed by Truth Labs, a creative studio responsible for multiple experimental NFT collections. The $gob token is issued by Exploding Goblin LLC, a U.S.-based subsidiary of Truth Arts Inc.
