Pudgy Penguins (PENGU) is the official token of the Pudgy Penguins ecosystem, launching on the Solana blockchain. The Pudgy Penguins project, which began as a popular NFT collection on Ethereum, has evolved into a globally recognised Web3 brand with significant cultural and mainstream reach. PENGU serves as a key component to further engage the existing Pudgy Penguins community while attracting new audiences into the ecosystem.
The total supply of PENGU is 88,888,888,888 tokens, and its distribution strategy allocates portions to the Pudgy community, liquidity provision, team members, public good initiatives, and outreach to new communities.
PENGU complements the existing Pudgy Penguins NFT ecosystem, including the original Pudgy Penguins, Lil Pudgys, and Pudgy Rods collections. This token launch marks the Pudgy Penguins' expansion beyond Ethereum to the Solana blockchain, with future integrations planned for emerging networks like Abstract Layer-2.
PENGU is designed to expand the reach of the Pudgy Penguins brand, enhance community engagement, and provide utility across the ecosystem. The token introduces value for existing NFT holders while onboarding millions of new fans and contributors. Its primary use cases include:
Community Incentives: A substantial allocation of PENGU tokens will reward existing holders of Pudgy Penguins NFTs, including Pudgy Penguins, Lil Pudgys, and Pudgy Rods. This incentivises loyalty and ongoing participation within the ecosystem.
Onboarding New Communities: Approximately 24.12% of the total supply will target other Web3 communities, aiming to welcome up to 5 million new members into the Pudgy Penguins ecosystem, expanding its user base and influence.

Pudgy Penguins was originally launched in July 2021 by a group of university students as a collection of 8,888 unique NFTs. In April 2022, entrepreneur Luca Netz acquired the project for 750 ETH (approximately $2.5 million at the time) and revitalised it into a globally recognised Web3 brand.
Under Luca Netz’s leadership as CEO, the project is driven by a dedicated team that includes Lorenzo Melendez as President, Austin as Head of Marketing, Peter Lobanov as Chief Creative Officer (CCO), Jennifer McGlone as Chief Legal Officer (CLO), and Vedant as Head of Strategy.
