Was ist ein Bitcoin-ETF? Sie sind ein relativ einfach zu erwerbendes Anlageinstrument, das Bitcoin (BTC), die ursprüngliche Kryptowährung, besitzt. Ähnlich wie Aktien sind börsengehandelte Fonds an Börsen notiert, können den ganzen Tag über gehandelt werden und sind über gewöhnliche Brokerage-Konten erhältlich. Ein Bitcoin-ETF wurde in den USA erstmals um 2013 von Cameron und Tyler Winklevoss vorgeschlagen, jedoch niemals von der US-Börsenaufsichtsbehörde SEC genehmigt. Mehrere Anträge darauf befinden sich zum Stand Januar 2024 noch bei der SEC in Prüfung, unter anderem von Unternehmen wie BlackRock, Grayscale, Fidelity, Galaxy/Invesco und Franklin Templeton. Sollte eine Genehmigung erteilt werden, könnten Krypto-ETFs die Basis der Menschen, die in digitale Vermögenswerte investieren können, erheblich erweitern. In den USA sind seit einigen Jahren Bitcoin-Futures-ETFs erhältlich, doch die jüngste Welle vorgeschlagener Produkte, technisch als Spot-Bitcoin-ETFs bekannt, stellt ein effizienteres und wünschenswerteres Produkt dar.
