Bitcoin ETF

Wat is een bitcoin-ETF? Zij zijn een relatief gemakkelijk te kopen beleggingsinstrument dat bitcoin (BTC), de oorspronkelijke cryptocurrency, bezit. Net als aandelen worden exchange-traded funds genoteerd op beurzen, kunnen zij de hele dag door worden verhandeld en zijn zij beschikbaar voor aankoop via normale brokerage-accounts. Een bitcoin-ETF werd voor het eerst voorgesteld in de VS rond 2013 door Cameron en Tyler Winklevoss, maar werd nooit goedgekeurd door de Amerikaanse Securities and Exchange Commission. Vanaf januari 2024 zijn er meerdere aanvragen voor bitcoin-ETF’s in behandeling bij de SEC, afkomstig van bedrijven als BlackRock, Grayscale, Fidelity, Galaxy/Invesco en Franklin Templeton. Indien goedgekeurd, kunnen crypto-ETF’s de basis van mensen die kunnen investeren in digitale activa aanzienlijk uitbreiden. Er zijn al enkele jaren bitcoin futures-ETF’s beschikbaar in de VS, maar de meest recente ronde voorgestelde producten, technisch bekend als spot bitcoin-ETF’s, vormen een efficiënter en wenselijker product.

VanEck Adds to ETF Applications With Ether Futures Filing

Fund manager VanEck filed for its fourth crypto exchange-traded fund (ETF) application on Wednesday.
