Plattsburgh, New York made headlines in 2018 when it became the first U.S. city to temporarily ban crypto mining. The moratorium was lifted ahead of schedule. CoinDesk traveled to the North Country to speak with local residents and public officials and get a firsthand look at how the city known for its dirt-cheap electricity is grappling with having cryptocurrency mining operators in their community.
