Voordat hij in november 2018 bij CoinDesk kwam, was hij hoofdredacteur van Technical.ly, een nieuwssite gericht op lokale techgemeenschappen aan de oostkust van de VS. Daarvoor werkte Seward als verslaggever voor zakelijke en technologische onderwerpen bij twee NPR-lidstations, WHYY in Philadelphia en WXXI in Rochester, New York.
